Developing affordable housing in Uganda: Market study in Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area (GKMA) and support for regulatory framework and tools structuration

AHI conducted a diagnosis of the housing market in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area (GKMA) in Uganda, with the aim of identifying tools and a regulatory framework to accompany and support the development of affordable housing. The beneficiaries of the study are the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development (MoLHUD) and the National Housing Construction Corporation (NHCC).

The study was carried out in two phases, the first of which consisted of analyzing market dynamics and the affordable housing ecosystem through an assessment of housing supply and demand. Following this diagnosis, we proposed tools and avenues for strengthening the regulatory framework in favor of the development of the affordable housing sector.
