Project Details

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI), through the Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter’s Housing Finance Systems (HFS) Africa team, seeks to map impact-investment opportunities, constraints and capital flows in affordable housing across Kenya, Tanzania, and Ethiopia. The assignment will assess the affordable housing finance ecosystem and identify strategic entry points through which HFHI can catalyze investment, address market gaps, and position itself as a leading ecosystem enabler. It will examine public, private, institutional, development, and climate-aligned sources of capital; active investment vehicles and blended-finance facilities; capital-flow bottlenecks; investor deterrents; capacity gaps; and risk-mitigation needs. The work will also assess HFHI’s current strengths, tools, and programs and translate the findings into an implementable strategic roadmap covering 12-month, three-year, and five-year horizons.
