Comparative Study on Financing Schemes for Student Accommodation in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa

AHI identified opportunities for AFD and Proparco’s involvement in the Purpose-built Student Accommodation (PBSA) sector in the four focus countries. We conducted an overview of the higher education landscape, including current and future demand for student housing, and an overview of student accomodation capacities and functioning across the four focus countries. We assessed existing funding schemes and business models, and identified the main sources and barriers in financing student housing development.
