Dustin Thomas
Dustin Thomas joined AHI in 2023 and serves as the Vice President of Operations. In this role, he provides strategic leadership for AHI and oversees day-to-day logistics across office administration, data, information technology systems, human resources, and business management for the headquarters in Boston and regional offices. As part of the Executive Team, he plays a key role in aligning internal functions with the strategic priorities of AHI’s business lines and in strengthening the organizational foundation and processes that enable the organization to continue growing efficiently and sustainably.
Dustin graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Technology and Management from Vermont Technical College. While completing his undergraduate degree, Dustin began working in the nonprofit sector as an instructor in machine tool technology and advanced manufacturing.
Dustin has more than ten years of experience in nonprofit roles, spanning administration, technology, finance, and people management. He has worked for organizations specializing in workforce development, community-targeted social impact work, and secondary and post-secondary education. Across all these roles, he has built reliable operational systems and led cross-functional teams across administration, finance, and technology.
Dustin's interest in impact-oriented work reflects his experiences growing up and living in many different communities where he saw different social and economic realities across communities. While working in workforce development, he noticed a direct correlation between access to housing and program outcomes and an individual’s ability to succeed, which shaped his commitment to building strong operational foundations for mission-driven organizations in order to strengthen their impact.
When Dustin is not working, he can be found running his dogthrough the woods or exploring New England.
